Flowood, Mississippi

Project Information

In October of 2011, Benchmark Engineering & Surveying, LLC was selected by the City of Flowood to provide land surveying and civil engineering services for the widening of Cooper Road from a two-lane open ditch roadway to a wider two lane curb and gutter roadway. The project consisted of widening approximately 4,000 l.f. of Cooper Road from a two-lane open ditch section to a twenty-eight foot curb and gutter section, and making substantial intersection improvements at Cooper Road & Lakeland Dr and Cooper Road and Luckney Road for channelization which included installing traffic signals at both intersections.  The project required relocating water lines and coordinating with local utility companies for relocating underground utilities and poles as needed for improvements, design of storm drain, erosion control, water system improvements, box culvert design, roadway design, traffic control plan, traffic signals, striping and signage.  Benchmark performed topographic and right-of-way surveying services and prepared all plans, documents and obtained all approvals required for this project including MDEQ and MDOT for the Lakeland Drive Improvements.  The project was to be bid in January of 2013 and was out for bid on schedule with all required approvals and right-of-ways required in hand prior to first advertisement.  The 2.4 million dollar project finished in November of 2013, on time and under the contract amount with no change orders.
