In June of 2014, Benchmark Engineering & Surveying, LLC was selected by the City of Flowood to provide civil engineering services for the design of a new roadway named Freedom Bend that would connect Old Fannin Road and Liberty Road and serve as the main thoroughfare for a future commercial development.  The project roadway covered approximately 1,500 L.F. of 3 lane curb & gutter roadway with a traffic signal at the intersection with Old Fannin.  The project required the relocation of some existing utilities including water lines and a gas line.  Benchmark coordinated our efforts during project design with local utility companies.  We provided civil engineering services and prepared the design of storm drain, erosion control, water system improvements, sanitary sewer improvements, roadway design, traffic control plan, striping/signage and traffic signals.  Benchmark prepared submittals and obtained all approvals required for this project including MDEQ and MSDH.  The project was on a strict schedule and was to be bid in September of 2013.  The project was out for bid on schedule with all required approvals in hand prior to first advertisement.  The 1.3 million dollar project was awarded in October of 2013 and closed out in June of 2014.
