Benchmark Engineering & Surveying, LLC was tasked completing the design of a 4,350-foot asphalt multiuse trail across Highway 80 and along a frontage road to facilitate safe pedestrian travel from the Crossgates subdivision to the Brandon Library and other municipal facilities. This project also consisted of approximately 800 feet of sidewalk along Highway 80 East of the Downtown area in Brandon.
Responsibilities and task associated with this project included the design of the asphalt multi-use trail and placement of a pedestrian bridge across Terrapin Skin Creek. A large part of the design process involved ensuring that both the multi-use trail and the proposed sidewalk met the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Driveway crossings that did not meet these standards were redesigned and replaced. The design is complete, but the project is currently under construction.
