Hwy 18 – Sewer Interceptor Replacement

The City of Brandon hired Benchmark Engineering to assist them in designing a project to replace an aging, 40 year old concrete sewer interceptor line within the City of Brandon.  This existing line was quickly deteriorating and beginning to experience failures, and a new solution had to be developed quickly.  Benchmark design a project to install approximately 3100 l.f. of new 36” and 24” gravity sanitary sewer line to replace this aging line, while keeping the system in service.  The new line was also designed to accommodate future flow increases, and a In-Channel Grinder and Grinder Vault was designed and installed near the end of this line to reduce solids which were causing damage to an existing sewer pump station.  This project was completed under the original bid amount and on time in July, 2022.
