Benchmark Engineering & Surveying, LLC. was tasked with widening Luckney Road between Wirtz Road and Lakeland Drive from a two-lane open ditch roadway to a three-lane curb and gutter roadway. This was to help with traffic congestion at morning and evening peak hours primarily due to Hartfield Academy school traffic. Benchmark was retained by the City of Flowood in July of 2020 with an anticipated bid date of mid-February/early March. The project was advertised for bids prior to the end of 2020 and bids taken at the end of January. The project was constructed under traffic while maintaining the roadway functionality. Benchmark worked closely with the school, local businesses, and the City of Flowood throughout the design phase in order to ensure minimal disruptions to traffic flow during construction.
Benchmark’s responsibilities on this project were to perform boundary and topographic surveying and prepare construction plans, specifications, and contract documents required for bidding the project. Benchmark also provided construction engineering, Inspection, oversight and contract management throughout the project for the owner. The City of Flowood was very pleased with the Benchmark’s services from project initiation to completion of the project.
